Reliance Industries Ltd approached numerous local suppliers in order to enhance their production rates and speed to make around two hundred million smartphones in the next two years. Mukesh Ambani’s next plan is to provide the Indian population smartphones available at lower prices with the same features that the international providers are offering at higher prices.
These phones will be a revolutionary step in the Indian market because there are not many phones available which are sold for $50-$54. These smartphones will be the first and not only will satisfy the Indian demand but will also provide assistance to many local and small manufacturers and providers or domestic companies like Karbonn mobiles, Dixon Technologies, Lava International, etc.
This smartphone will be sold with low-cost wireless plans from Reliance, and Mukesh Ambani is very optimistic about its popularity amongst the market. He believes this is the only way to support the local manufacturers and provide a good start in the Indian market to fill up the gap in the smartphone manufacturing arena, which is mostly captured by international companies like Xiaomi, MI, etc.
Reliance is looking forward to selling 150 million to 200 million smartphones in a span of two years, and this is an exciting phase for numerous local factories participating in the manufacturing process as well.
Bharti Airtel is also approaching the assemblers in the Indian market to manufacture its own 4G device just how Reliance is planning.
