Lashkar-e-Taiba Affiliated Group Claims Deadly J&K Attack, Doctor Among 7 Killed

A tragic incident in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), a Pakistan-based militant group linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba has claimed responsibility for an attack that left a doctor and six others dead.

The assault occurred on 20 Oct 2024, around 8 P.M. when armed assailants targeted a convoy carrying civilians, including healthcare workers, in GaganGir Area of J&K, Ganderbal District. Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots, leading to widespread panic as people fled the scene.

Condemnation and Response

Authorities have condemned the attack, with Omar Abdullah vowing to bring those responsible to justice. “Very sad news of a dastardly and cowardly attack on non-local laborers at Gagangir in Sonamarg region. These people were working on a key infrastructure project in the area. 2 have been killed and 2-3 more have been injured in this militant attack. I strongly condemn this attack on unarmed innocent people and send my condolences to their loved ones”. Omar wrote on X.
