Political storm in Delhi! BJP slams AAP over CAG reports, sparking chaos in the assembly.

New Delhi – The Delhi Assembly witnessed intense political drama as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s BJP-led government tabled 14 long-awaited Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports. The move triggered a stormy confrontation with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The Speaker suspended several AAP MLAs, including Leader of Opposition (LoP) Atishi, after they engaged in a heated face-off over allegations that the previous administration mismanaged finances.

BJP Drops a Bombshell: CAG Reports Expose Governance Failures

The BJP, now in power in Delhi for the first time since 1998, wasted no time in making its move. The 14 CAG reports, allegedly blocked by the AAP government, include audits on state finances, air pollution control, public health infrastructure, and the now-defunct Delhi liquor policy. These reports expose what the BJP calls “gross financial mismanagement” by the previous Kejriwal-led administration.

Key reports tabled include:

  • State Finances Audit Reports (2021-2023) – Raising questions on the utilization of public funds.
  • Performance Audit of Vehicular Air Pollution (2021) – Highlighting failures in curbing Delhi’s notorious air pollution.
  • Performance Audit on Liquor Supply – Scrutinizing the controversial liquor policy that led to corruption allegations.
  • Public Health Infrastructure & Management Report – Pointing out major gaps in government hospitals and mohalla clinics.

Clash in the Assembly: AAP vs. BJP

Tensions escalated as BJP leaders demanded accountability and accused AAP of misusing taxpayer money. Speaker Ram Niwas Goel suspended multiple AAP legislators after a fiery debate. Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva declared, “AAP’s corruption stands exposed. Every penny must be accounted for!

AAP, on the other hand, called the suspensions “an attack on democracy”, with Atishi claiming that the reports had already been submitted to the Speaker before the Delhi elections.
