Tom Hardy, who has received immense appreciations for his roles in films like Fury Road, The Dark Knight Rises, Inception and The Revenant might be stepping into the Bond franchise by replacing actor Daniel Craig to play James Bond, according to rumours. Official announcement regarding Tom Hardy as the new James Bond was supposed to be made in November last year. However, the announcement got delayed due to the pandemic situation in the world.
In an interview with The Daily Beast, the actor said that he would be out of the race for Bond role if he talked about it before the official announcement on being asked if there was a possibility of him playing James Bond. A popular belief within Hollywood fraternity that an actor cast in the spy franchise cannot reveal his role before an announcement is supposedly at play behind the actor’s reply. This has fuelled anticipation among Bond fans regarding Hardy playing the spy.
Hardy, who had debuted in 2001 with the film Black Hawk Down, has an immense fanbase. His popularity and acting skills will make sure that both his fans and the lovers of Bond will welcome him to play the spy. However, Daniel Craig has created a place for himself as James Bond and it is not sure if the makers would go for a change just yet.
The upcoming Bond film, No Time to Die, is one among many Hollywood films to have their release dates postponed due to the pandemic restrictions worldwide. According to the director, Cary Joji Fukunaga, there has been no changes made in the script of the film that stars Daniel Craig, Jeffrey Wright, Ana de Armas and Ralph Fiennes in lead roles. The film releases on 12th November in the UK and on 20th November in the US.
