The Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy under the Ministry of AYUSH organised on 16th October 2020 a HIVARA Webinar on Yoga and Immunity to deliberate on the different aspects of immunity. Experts included forensic immunologists, researchers, nurses, and yoga & naturopathic doctors who engaged in the webinar.
Shri Ranjit Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, made the opening remarks on the value of immunity under the current usual conditions of COVID 19 and spoke about yoga and immunity. Dr Raghavendra Rao, Ceo, CCRYN gave a brief description of the programme and invited all the speakers and participants to the gathering.
In the technical sessions, renowned Bengalurian Immunologist Dr Chandrashekara S spoke about the beneficial and adverse effects of inflammation and how this needs to be moderated to produce the optimal outcomes.
Immune homeostasis was said to be the corner pillar in healthy health, and Yoga and Naturopathy helped maintain equilibrium. He explained how conditions such as pathogens, stress, and acute exercise may have deleterious effects on immunity and showed evidence by using autoimmunity yoga approaches. He stressed the need for immune stabilisation instead of an immune enhancement.
The possible role of Ayurveda in the treatment of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) would be the subject of this year’s Ayurveda Day, which will take place on 13 November.
The tradition of Ayurveda Day, which falls on Dhanwantri Jayanti, was launched by the Ministry of Ayurveda (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) in 2016.
This year’s specific emphasis will be on problems relating to the normative Covid-19 pandemic as well as how Ayurveda can begin to create immunity.
The theme report — Ayurveda for the Covid-19 Pandemic — would also be arranged on the occasion.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
