The refute started on September 23, when Bollywood actress Payal Ghosh filed an FIR against the filmmaker Anurag Kashyap in Versova police station for sexually assaulting her in 2013. After that, in an interview on the same issue, Payal Ghosh dragged the name of actress Richa Chadha which led her to file a defamation suit against Payal.
The defamation suit claimed that Payal has made “false, baseless, indecent and derogatory” statements against Richa and has sought monetary compensation for damages. However, Payal Ghosh’s lawyer, Nitin Satpute has said in the Bombay High Court while a recent hearing of the case that his client is ready to withdraw her statement and apologize to Richa but under certain conditions.
The conditions state that the plaintiff (Richa) should not file any criminal case against Payal Ghosh after settling the matter and both the lawyers will further communicate to finalize the consent terms. The Bombay HC has granted 2 days for the lawyers to settle on the consent terms.
