Section 144 of IPC had to be imposed on the city of Mumbai once again in an increasing number of Corona infections in the city. The laws were brought in effect from midnight on Thursday. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs has refuted a rumour that was doing the rounds on the fact that the Centre might start another strict lockdown on the threshold of the second wave of COVID pandemic from 25th September.
The number of COVID effects have been rising each day and the curve is yet to be flattened in the city of Mumbai. The country has recorded the highest daily Corona cases in the world in the last few days.
The order that was issued by the Police department in Mumbai says that “ Whereas Mumbai city continues to be threatened with the spread of COVID 19, it is considered expedient to issue prohibitory order for restricting any presence or movement of one or more persons I public places or gathering of any sort anywhere, including religious places to prevent further spread of Covid-19 in the areas under the control of the Commissioner of Greater Mumbai”
Besides prohibiting gathering of more than four-person at a time under the imposition of section 199, no other restrictions have been imposed in the city. However, the existence of special restrictions in the containment zones continue. Exemptions provided by the Centre will also exist simultaneously. Special allowance for movements will be allowed for emergency purposes listed in the order.
