Residents of Whitefield in Bengaluru enraged as OFC firms repeatedly dig up roads in the locality

The residents of Whitefield in Bengaluru complain about the Office of Chief Engineer (OFC Cell) digging up the road repeatedly which causes trouble for the commuters. They allege that the OFC lacks planning and conduct rampant dig ups of the road in Whitefield as there is an IT corridor.

Sources also say that the road is dug up at night without the notice of BBMP officials which is also illegal and has led to the loss of crores of revenue. Though there are penalty charges against the OFC that are pending for illegal digging, the agency never recovers the fine.

A resident from Mahadevapura said that the illegal digging usually happens during the weekend or on a holiday and being questioned the OFC workers show a fake or old permission letter. Their rampant digging leaves the pits open which causes accidents, residents allege.
