Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap summoned by Mumbai police for an alleged sexual assault case

Acclaimed film director, Anurag Kashyap has been summoned by the Mumbai police for an alleged sexual assault case lodged against him. Actor Payal Ghosh, and along with her, Nitin Satpute approached the Versova police station on September 22 to register a First Information Report (FIR) against the director.

Kashyap has to appear at the Versova police station on Thursday, October 1 at 11 a.m. Anurag via his lawyer has called the allegations ‘baseless’. His lawyer Priyanka Khimani has published a statement calling the allegations completely false, malicious, and dishonest.

The FIR was lodged under IPC Sections 376 (I) (rape), 341 (wrongful restraint), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), and 342 (wrongful confinement). The actor’s complaint mentioned that Kashyap performed sexual misconduct on her in 2013 at a place in Versova.
