COVID-19 has shown how disrupted lives can be. An unknown virus, creating havoc all across the nations, declared “a pandemic” by the WHO has also caused a huge clash between Bharatiya Janata Party and Aam Aadmi Party.

The BJP led government has been criticised by the leaders of AAP time and again. In March, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi requested people to start clapping, beating steel plates and ringing bells to show their support for those who sacrificed their life and worked diligently during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Hon’ble PM’s call to unite the country through clapping and beating utensils to show respect to the frontline workers was mocked by the Aam Aadmi Party. While, Sudhanshu Trivedi, MP from BJP didn’t show reluctance in calling this move by PM Modi as the ‘symbolic’ one.

He tried to draw a striking similarity between the moves by the Prime Minister and Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘charkha’, by calling both of them as a symbol to unite the nation in the wake of the pandemic, to bring people together and lead by example.

Mr. Sanjay Singh, who is an AAP MP criticised the government and accused the government of trying to look for a chance even in the wake of a pandemic to divert the attention of the people from the possible misconduct in the purchase of supplies like thermometers and oxymeters in times of crisis.

He further asked the government to provide the details of research or thesis which mentions that the novel coronavirus can be stopped from spreading by clapping and beating utensils. He went on to add that everyone from the opposition would stay back at the Parliament premises and light diyas along with the Prime Minister while clapping.
