Adding to the intensity regarding her allegation to the drug abuse issues within Bollywood, Kanagan Ranaut ridiculed actress Deepika Padukone’s depression and other mental health issues by saying that her condition was caused as a result of her alleged link to drug addiction along with other Bollywood actors in one of her posts.

In her post, she wrote, “Repeat after me, depression is a consequence of drug abuse. So called high society rich star children who claim to be classy and good upbringing ask their manager, MAAL HAIN KYA?” This is in reference to Padukone’s posts at increasing awareness regarding mental health issues after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death by suicide where she used the phrase, “repeat after me”.

The drug abuse investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide by the National Board of Narcotics Control is taking different shapes every passing day. Actress Rhea Chakraborty, Sushant’s girlfriend, has been arrested in connection to alleged use and possession of narcotic substances.

Last week, names of Bollywood actresses including Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet and Simone Khambatta have also come up in alleged issues of drug abuse. A house party arranged by director Karan Johar in 2019 is also being investigated for alleged use of drugs by guests that includes Deepika Padukone.

Deepika has always been vocal about the period where she suffered from severe depression and also has her own organisation that works for the welfare of people battling depression.
