Karnataka’s BJP government is set to introduce a new trust which will promote scientific education among the educationally backward Muslim community. On Thursday, the government placed the proposal before the cabinet for approval of the trust, but yet was delayed as minister Srimanth Patil of the minority welfare department was absent that day. Patil is currently in home quarantine for coming in contact with a corona positive person.

The proposal is named Maulana Azad Scientific Education Centre and is set up at a cost of 25 crores which will provide scientific knowledge to the educationally undeveloped Muslim community to bring them to mainstream education. AB Ibrahim, the secretary of the minority welfare department said that the research and advisory body of the new trust will ensure “overall improvement” in the field of education in the community by assessing their needs and drawbacks.
