Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also a Congress party leader visited the family of the 19-year old Dalit girl who was allegedly gang-raped and brutally assaulted on Saturday, October 3. Though they were stopped and detained by UP police on Thursday while working towards the village. The UP government as well as the police were highly condemned for their actions.
The Congress leaders finally managed to reach the village and they spent an hour with the victim’s family to know about their condition. The victim’s mother mentioned that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra sat with her, asked about her deceased daughter, and what happened on September 14. Priyanka also tried to gather information about the cremation that was hastily done at midnight by the UP police allegedly without the consent of the family members.
After facing continuous outrage, on Saturday, the Uttar Pradesh government recommended a CBI investigation in the case and the government has also suspended three police officers of Hathras.
