The National Highways Authority of India proposed to build a satellite town ring road for the second time through the Bannerghatta National Park in Bengaluru. The authority’s idea is to connect Karnataka’s Ramanagara with Tamil Nadu’s Hosur.

Initially in 2018, in the first attempt, NHAI’s move faced opposition from the green activists of the city as the ring road will hamper the eco-sensitive zone. Hence, the authorities dropped its plan to build an elevated corridor stretching for about 4 km.

NHAI took this initiative again in August 2020 and justified its project saying that there is no other alternative route which is as short as the proposed route and they mention that this project will have a minimal ecological impact in the area. According to the authorities, the ring road project will significantly reduce the traffic congestion in Bengaluru as well as the “human-animal conflict”.
