AIM (Atal Innovation Mission), in collaboration with CSIRO, is hosting a two-day circular economy hackathon, ‘India–Australia Circular Economy Hackathon (I-ACE)’ on 7 and 8 December.
The concept of I-ACE was conceived at a virtual summit on 4 June between Indian and Australian prime ministers, discussing creative ways to improve the circular economy in India and Australia.
I-ACE will concentrate on the discovery and development of creative technological technologies by high-quality academics, start-ups and small and medium-sized businesses from both countries.
The four main topics of the hackathon are as follows:
- The innovation of packaging waste control
- The innovation of food supply chains to reduce pollution
- Creating ways to minimise plastic waste
- Recycle critical energy metals and e-waste
The shortlisted students and start-ups / MMEPs will be named for the hackathon, where two winners (one student and one start-up / MSME) from each country will be declared at the award ceremony on 11 December.
The concept of I-ACE was put forward at a virtual summit between Indian and Australian Prime Ministers on 4 June 2020. This was planned to pursue creative ways to improve the circular economy in India and Australia.
The primary aim of the hackathon is to resolve the challenge of the circular economy. It would have potential options for the removal of waste and re-use of waste. This would make the economy less capital dependent and guarantee that economic development is environmentally friendly.
India and Australia have a solid, fruitful bilateral relationship. Both countries are working in a vast variety of fields that have achieved positive outcomes. In the future, India and Australia should combine their research and development activities to achieve more. The circular economy model would create more jobs and improve economic prosperity in the long run. It would help reduce costs and accelerate creativity. It would also offer major environmental benefits.
