It’s 75th Anniversary of United Nations

On Monday, Global leaders gathered together to commemorate the 75th birthday of the UN, while the devastating coronavirus disease outbreak and strains between both the USA and China threaten the efficacy and unity of the 193-member assembly.

As Coronavirus started to spread across the globe pretty early this year, causing hundreds of thousands of people to hide at residence and crippling economies, governments turned inwards as the diplomats say the UN has failed to establish itself.

Long-standing tension between the USA and China reached the tipping point of the pandemic, illustrating Beijing’s quest for broader multilateral power as a threat to Washington’s conventional leadership.

The COVID 19 appeared in China later last year, so Washington suspects Beijing of no accountability that now the disease is said to have escalated. China rejects the claims of the US.

In an obvious slap to the USA, China’s President, Xi Jinping, stated Monday, that no nation should have the right to rule world affairs, to monitor the fate of everyone else, or to maintain the benefits of growth on its own.

The Secretary-General, António Guterres has said that the world has an abundance of multilateral issues, however, not enough multilateral solutions to them.
