Union Health Minister talks about the vaccine situation in India on Sunday

On the fourth edition of ‘Sunday Samvaad’, the Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan interacted with social media users and talked about the detailed roadmap of vaccine procurement and distribution that can be expected in the coming months in the country. The minister also mentioned that the government of India plans to procure and utilise 400-500 million Covid-19 vaccine doses for the first round and 20-25 crore people would be able to get the first shot by July 2021.

The government also wants the co-operation of the state governments in identifying the high-risk groups as they have to collect and send the details of priority population groups. The government will also create a list of frontline workers which will include both government and private-sector doctors, nurses, and other healthcare groups who take active participation in testing, tracing, and treatment of Covid-19 patients.
