India-Mexico Bilateral Meeting

The 5th Meeting of the top-level Bilateral Team on Trade, Investment as well as Cooperation (BHLG) between India and Mexico took place on 9th day of October 2020 via a teleconference. The discussion was headed by Dr Anup Wadhawan who is the Secretary of Commerce of the Government of India along with the Deputy Minister of International Trade of the Government of Mexico, Ms Luz María de la Mora. Several Ministries, Agencies and Chambers of Commerce from both nations participated in the conference.

Both sides have acknowledged the development made throughout the bilateral ties and trade ties between India and Mexico in past months. Both sides explored a range of current and unresolved bilateral issues, longing from audio-visual co-creation, the Bilateral Investment Pact, free trade for farm goods the Sanitary and Phytosanitary Cooperation System (SPS) and the Technological Barriers to Trade (TBT) among the 2 countries, collaboration on Intellectual Property Rights, and finding ways to facilitate ties between the 2 nations.

In order to improve business ties between India as well as Mexico, the Memorandum of Understandings were concluded at the 5th meeting of the BHLG between India and Mexico. The discussion was arranged over a video call on 9th October 2020.

The Indian Electronics & Computer Product Export Promotion Council (ESC) signed an MoU with the Mexican Chamber of Technology, Telecommunications and Information Technology (CANIETI).

The MOU here between Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) as well as the Mexican Business Council for International Exchange, Investment and Technology (COMCE) was however signed to facilitate the growth of business ties between India and Mexico.

Both countries have agreed to extend and maximise bilateral trade engagement in order to tap into the potential of complementarity between India and Mexico by strengthening collaboration in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, health care, agribusiness-products, agriculture, food processing and aerospace industries, etc. A ‘Joint Declaration’ was released after the fruitful end of the conference.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
