Ahead of the assembly elections and council contests which are scheduled from October 28, the campaigns by the political parties have kickstarted and some major parties have been accused of ignoring Covid-19 protocols issued by the Election Commission. The council contest will be conducted on October 28 and the by-polls in RR Nagar and Sira are set to be held on November 3.

Sources report that on Wednesday and Thursday, several by-poll candidates along with their supporters rushed to the designated offices to complete the required paperwork which posed a threat to the health of many people.

Following this, K Sudhakar, the Health and Medical Education Minister of Karnataka slammed Congress candidate TB Jayachandra for violating Covid-19 rules. However, BJP and JD(S) campaigners also faced criticism for their act of ignoring the Election Commission’s health-safety guidelines. The police have also filed a complaint against RR Nagar Congress candidate H Kusuma and opposition party leader Siddaramaiah’s security guard.
