Karnataka multiplexes to reopen yesterday after 7 months of hiatus

The government of India allowed the multiplexes across the country to reopen from Thursday, October 15, and Karnataka multiplex operators decided to resume its services from day one. Though many single-screen halls have decided to wait and observe the big screens as there are no big-ticket movie releases. President of Karnataka Film Exhibitors Association, KV Chandrasekhar said that the lack of content and the new norms of screening for only 50% audience is a big challenge for single-screen movie theatres.

Inox Leisure Limited officials reported that it will run five shows in Karnataka, among which two are in Bengaluru. The regional director of the company, Mohit Bhargava ensured that the theatres will provide a safe environment and he expects a bigger audience and more films to line up for release from the next month.

He also added that the pandemic has caused a huge loss in the Kannada film industry amounting up to Rs 5,000 crore.
